9 Interior Design Trends You Must Know in 2025

How to make your home trendy

Looking to refresh your living space? This article explores the top interior design trends for 2025, offering inspiration for incorporating romantic silhouettes, saturated colors, and unique embellishments into your home.

Every year, trend predictions are shared. Trend predictions in the home space are interesting because they don’t turn over as fast as fashion. It is not a yearly thing. It builds over time, especially because homes are not something that you want to be changing every couple of months or years. You want them to have longevity. Even though these are called trends, these are things that have been incorporated more and more into projects. Those take a couple of years to build. When they come to life, people still love them and hope their clients love them for many years to come. The trends predicted for 2024 are still relevant. Here are the 2025 trend predictions.

Romantic Interior Design

Romance is something that is being seen a lot on social media. People are romanticizing their life, adding a chair to a sun-drenched corner, looking at the details, and finding the beauty in their spaces. Romance is a really strong trend this year. Romantic silhouettes are always appealing, whether or not it’s a trend. Many beautiful romantic pieces have been created, such as ruffled edges on pillows and bedding, and floral prints on wallpaper and textiles.

Adding some softness to a piece is always a good idea. You’ll see that whether something contemporary or traditional is being done, incorporating soft edges makes everything feel a bit more inviting and cozy. Curvy legs or a rounded back can play off of that trend as well. It’s not something that will ever get old.

Saturated Colors

Deep rich hues are emerging, especially in seasons where it’s not obvious to have those deep saturated hues. Examples include deep browns, saturated navies, oxblood tones, and earthy greens. All of those are great individually and together. Many products have been created that incorporate saturated hues. There are accent tables, artwork with rich tones, and upholstery options that have deep velvets. You can even do that on a sofa if you’d like. There are a lot of made-to-order pieces.

A deep saturated color on a rug is a great option. The sky is the limit, and you can incorporate this trend in so many different ways. One thing is seeing color blocking with those hues. For example, taking a navy cabinet and then putting a burgundy tile with that navy cabinet. Those colors work together, but it’s not the obvious choice.

Inspiration can be found by holding the samples up next to each other or looking to a floral arrangement and seeing what colors work together in that arrangement. Then, pull those colors out and apply them to the color blocked effect you’re trying to create. Saturated hues add a lot of richness and depth.

If you’re a person that loves a light and airy aesthetic and doesn’t want to drench their entire home in saturated hues, that’s okay. You can do this by having an accent chair that’s in a deep color, or even go less than that and do a dark mat on an art piece. You might consider vignettes like a chest with a dark lamp and maybe a dark tray and a dark box together. Those things add drama. There are ways to experiment with this look without painting an entire room.

Pattern Drenching

Pattern drenching involves layering pattern on pattern on pattern. The same pattern that’s on the wallpaper is on the headboard, which is on the pillows. That repetition is a look that is being seen come in really strong in design right now. If you’re not ready to commit to that extreme of a look, you can do this on your bed in a really easy and beautiful way. You could match your pillows to your headboard, and you’re getting that effect without committing to the entire room.

The most timeless way to do a heavily patterned look is to mix and match the patterns throughout the room. The same approach can be taken to mixing and matching the patterns throughout a room that you do to mixing and matching pillows on a sofa. That involves mixing an organic floral with a stripe and a block print and a plaid. You are taking different styles and scales, and then you’re unifying them with a color palette.

Embellishments

Embellishments include tassels, trims, cording tape detail. Often, people think, “Hey, let’s take something away,” but right now, more is being added to all of our spaces. It could be an ottoman that has Fringe on it or a light fixture that has a pleat. Those are embellishments. Not everything is smooth and sleek. Reeded details are appearing on Cabinetry and Furniture pieces.

There are many options for embellishments on pillows. Tassels and Fringe, banding on edges, and cording tape details have all been used. Rope details are appearing on frames and on lots of furniture pieces and textiles. Rope is a great embellishment.

Western Cowboy

Fashion is often a source for trends that end up landing in the home space. Suede Fringe boots and Concho belts are examples of looks that are appearing in the home space. Quite a few clients have asked for cowboy art decor. Saddles are being put in rooms. A lot of Allwood rooms are being seen, as well as rustic beams and antique pieces. This trend celebrates things with patina. Whether you’re doing artwork that has a horse in it, or you’re picking a rustic vase that has a lot of age, you can take this literal or you can just be inspired by it and inspired by the textures.

This is a play off of the equestrian aesthetic. The term “Country Club” has been used a lot over the past couple of years, and this is just building upon that. It’s being seen in a more rustic way. One thing you can do is actually mix the trends, such as adding in a really romantic floral pillow in a more rustic setting. You don’t have to just lean into one Trend and say this is the one I’m going for and that’s it. You can pick and choose how you do that in your own home. That really speaks to you and your personal aesthetic because we’re all drawn to many different things.

Inspired By The Sea

Shell motifs are emerging. This is another one inspired by fashion. There was mermaid girl summer, and there were a lot of these mesh Textures in fashion. The seaside Trend is really coming into play with shell objects, shell light fixtures, and shell trays. It’s being seen everywhere. Like anything, you can take this to the extreme and do lots of shells and lots of Seaside textures and colors in your home, or you can do this in a really subtle way and just pick a few decorative accents. This trend has been coming for a while, and objects have been created that allow you to play with this trend.
